Experimentally playful, yet fundamentally folk, Ann was first discovered by BRIT Award-winning producer Ethan Johns (Paul McCartney, Kings Of Leon, Laura Marling) in the underground music scenes of Camden Town. She was invited to his studio to record what became Clever Rabbits, out now. The self-released debut came in at #13 on the Official UK Folk Charts, #20 Independent Album Breakers, #28 Records Store, and #78 Independent Album Charts on its release month this year.
Sitting somewhere between the exploratory of Kate Bush, punch of Fiona Apple, and prose of Joni Mitchell, Ann’s classic and idiosyncratic sound is the landscape that sits behind her distinctive writing, weaving Anglo-celtic and Oriental folklore into her own relationships with land, death, and life.
Meanwhile, she recently sold out her first three headline shows in the capital, at Green Note, St Pancras, and The Lexington. She's represented ‘Whispering’ Bob Harris on their UTAT stage at The Great Escape Festival and Black Deer Festival, Bearded Theory and Foolhardy Folk Festival. She toured and opened for artists like Lewis Ofman (EU/UK/Mexico/Canada/USA), Beans on Toast (UK), Ny Oh, Rett Madison, Tommy Prine, Ferris and Sylvester, Kassi Valazza and Margo Cilker at prestigious venues such as The Clapham Grand in Brixton, Omeara in London Bridge, The Green Note in Camden, and The Hotel Cafe Hollywood in LA.
Her debut EP, 'Chalk' was featured in Spotify's editorial playlist 'Noteable' and her debut single 'Stranger in the Rain' was played on BBC Radio Wiltshire and BBC Radio Gloucestershire. She was Lewis Ofman’s guitarist and vocalist in his live band this year, touring the US, Canada, Mexico and Europe, playing festivals and venues like the Theatre Bouffes Du Nord and We Love Green in Paris, Webster Hall in New York, The Fonda Theatre in LA, and Foro Puebla in Mexico.
Coming hot on the heels of the success of Clever Rabbits, the final single, Letters, is out October 3rd. This special bonus track brings out Johns’ classic fundamental production style in an exciting, pop space.
